POTTY! Yeh, go Jayce

Well, most of you know that Jayce was potty trained around 6m of age. He would go on the potty on command. But with spending most of his week in daycare and in diapers it was never a forced behavior and eventually he stopped going and started to resist the potty. So we dropped it and just started to pick it back up a few days ago. The first night J man and I battled the potty for 2 hours fighting before he actually went. Then the last few days we sat on the potty when we got up, before nap and at night with no struggles but only peeing sometimes. Tonight I was tired and didn't feel like dealing with the potty so I decided we weren't going to do the potty before bed. Well Jayce did not like that idea and pulled me into the bathroom and pointed at the potty. So I took his diaper and pants off, sat him on the potty and we started to read a book. A few seconds later he got up, pointed at the potty and smiled at me! He went all on his own! Hurrah for Jayce. Hopefully this will continue and I can have only one child in diapers!

Milo

So we kicked Milo to the curb. The first child has been banished!
Well, we actually just told him that he's going to have to enjoy life outdoors from now on. A few weeks ago I noticed cat pee on the couch. Swearing to myself I spent the better part of a few days cleaning it up and trying to get rid of the odor. A few days later Kaelyn's portable bassinet was peed in! Then I freaked out...this was not an accident. The next day two more locations on the couch and Rosie's bed! Milo was clearly the culprit as he'd been having attitude lately with Jayce. Jayce so sweetly would go up to Milo, say "hi kitty" and hand Milo a toy mouse or snacks...Milo would then hiss at Jayce and swat him! I saw this happen multiple times and I would remove Jayce and chastise Milo. I guess Milo was not happy going from #1, to #5!... with Tabi, Rosie, Jayce and now Kaelyn joining the ranks in the house. So I had it. I wasn't cleaning up any more. Keith built Milo a safe house outside and brought him to get all his shots and tick medicine. A couple hundred dollars later Milo has joined the ranks of outdoor kitties! Wish him a safe journey.

The Garden

So we are finally doing it...planting a garden. It will be so nice to have our organic fruits and veggies this summer. We are making raised beds as we've read that that extends our growing season and we can control the vermin attacks by lining the bed bottoms and sides with metal wire. But it is a lot more upfront work this year. So far we've made the beds and lined and filled one with compost. The rain is slowing down our progress on the 2nd bed. Most of the plants are ordered and we pick them up in less than 1 month but I need to plant the beans and strawberries soon. The blueberry bushes get delivered this week too and we need to figure out where we are going to put the grape vines! I'm almost thinking we need a 2nd deep freezer so we can freeze a bunch of the veggies...we'll probably can most of the fruit as jams. Anyone have a good spaghetti sauce recipe? We'll take some pictures once it is up and running.
BTW, Jayce loves playing in the dirt!
