7 months!

I can not believe 7 months has gone by.

Jayce continues to be a very happy baby. Making him smile is so easy yet rewarding. He's doing great at daycare and loves playing with all the other kids. He's officially mastered sitting up and rolling over. He's not figured out that crawling motion yet. I'm eager for him to learn but at the same time loving that he really can't get into too much trouble yet!

He's eating up a storm and pretty much loves all food, well he only likes meats if they are mixed with fruits or veggies....but then again did you ever taste the baby food meat?! Yuck! I tried making him baby food using this food mill but he is unsure of a rougher consistency of food and gags. He definitely prefers the smooth baby jar food texture. Oh well, I'll give it a few weeks and try again. But he has started eating small bites of food and that doesn't bother him as much. He does not have the fine fingers skills yet so he pretty much grabs the food in his palm and then drops it when he opens his hand to put the food in his mouth. But we try every day and eventually he'll get it!

I'll post the 7 month pictures soon...here is one from today.

6 month check-up

It is hard to believe it has been 6 months already. The Dr said this morning that we are closer to his 1st birthday than to the day he was born! Time seriously flies SO fast.

Well, Jayce is still topping off the charts, he's >95th in height at 28 3/4" and 95th in weight at 20 lbs 1 oz. The Dr is always amused at how happy Jayce is in the office. Jayce really doesn't seem to be phased yet by going to the Dr and even after the Dr gives him his shots, Jayce cries for a few seconds but then follows it up with a smile. The Dr said he feels bad giving the shots to happy kids...as he actually makes them cry. I guess that's right...why would you ever want to make a baby cry.

But Jayce seems to be on target for everything else. He passed all the "tests" the Dr gave him....he even succeeded in ripping apart that throw away paper that you sit on. He was very focused and persistent in playing with it so much that he amused the Dr by his determination.

I do think we may have a little trouble maker on our hands though....
Jayce is very allergic to detergents and we've switched everything at our house to be either organic or fragrance free. But when Jayce goes to daycare the rash on his face can be pretty bad. We bring his own blankets & bibs every week so that we can keep his exposure down to a minimum. The only thing left is the cloth toys at daycare, which are washed in a detergent that he is allergic to. So we discussed with the teachers to just not let Jayce play with those items. So this has all been working out but now Jayce has learned to"steal" the cloth toys away from the other kids as they walk or crawl by him. The teachers say that he does this multiple times a day and all the other kids let him take the toys away!! They say it is really funny to watch as he does it so quietly that he appears to be innocent and to boot he smiles at them as if he didn't do anything wrong! Plus since he puts EVERYTHING in his mouth they say it is really funny, as the other day he "stole" this spider puppet; he put the belly in his mouth and had 8 spider legs covering his head! Ah, if I could only be a fly on the wall at his daycare.

Rolling over & first tooth

Oh the little guy is growing up! Last week he started rolling over. He goes both ways, from belly to back and back to belly, but he only does it a few times a day. Keith actually caught him last Monday sitting backwards in his bouncy seat. It is great that he is getting more mobile. It allows him a lot less frustration as he can roll over to get the things he wants. Almost every day now we find him in a different position in his bed, not only does he now sleep on his side, he also has a habit of turning 180 during his sleep, so his feet when he wakes up are where we put his head when the night started. Also he got his first tooth yesterday! It isn't all the way through but it broke the surface. I can't wait for his first toothy grin!

Also he went in the pool for the first time last week when my mom, Jayce & I went down to GA to hang out with Keith's mom. At first he did not like the pool, particularly the big green frog sunshade. But after a day I guess he figured it wasn't attacking him so it was ok. Here is a picture of him playing in the pool...or should I say eating the pool toys.
