Baran babies & hospitals

This past week Jayce came down with some bug. At first we thought his runny nose was from his last 1st year molar coming in but after a few days he started spitting up a bit here and there and was getting cranky...so we figured it is probably something more. Luckily he never ran a fever so his body just delt with the sickness. Little Kaelyn though was not so lucky. Friday night she ended up running a fever of 100.9. Anything over 100 was a concern for the doctors since I had group B strep when she was born but b/c she came so quickly we never had time to get treated. The drs said that we had to watch her closely for the first month as she could come down with a serious infection. So off to the ER we went early Sat morning. They did all sorts of tests: blood, urine, nasal secretions & a spinal tap. Thankfully everything has come back negative so far, well except for the 15 minute meningitis scare! (The lab accidently misread her white vs red blood cell count and we were told that she was very sick...15 minutes later they came back in to tell us that everything is ok!....holy crap that was scary!) Her white blood count was high, indicating that she was fighting something but so far it seems to just be a viral infection as all the cultures have come back negative so far. She is still running a bit of a fever and continues to be congested but doing well otherwise. They have her on two sets of general antibiotics as a precaution but if everything continues to look ok by monday morning we can go home!

My mom has Jayce up in Massachusetts as it is just too hard to have him in the hospital. There are so many cool things to look at here that he ends up being such a handful. Plus there is no way Jayce will go down for a nap in such an interesting place, so Keith ends up going back and forth between the hospital & home.

We will keep you updated and please keep Kaelyn in your thoughts and prayers
